Lyrics:
Life is hard for a truck-driving man.
When you've been drivin on the highway for three days you naturally want to meet some people other than the Jakes and Bills and Randys that you've been on the road with.
…Life is hard for a truck-driving man.
When you've been drivin on the highway for three days you naturally want to meet some people other than the Jakes and Bills and Randys that you've been on the road with.
Just imagine what a relief is to see that there is a town only 70 miles north of where you are.
My heart opens when I see that I'm drivin towards cities like Wausau Wisconsin, Walla Walla Washington or Oregon City Oregon. I'll tell you what I do when I reach a town after days of driving.
And then I walk into the bar
I wanna see the stars and do the Honky Dance
Put on a clean shirt
So no-one will get hurt at the Honky Dance
Every now and then everybody gets a little excited
And don't forget to put on yourt hat
when you're in the Honky doin' your Dance
Once you're there in the bar, everything's just fine.
You order a beer ot some other drinks. When I'm on a trucker party in a bar, I always have at least 17 beers.
That's OK cause I'm not ridin' anywhere afterwards. And in my experience real Kentucky Bourbon is the best in the world.
But remember: Don't drink and drive.
Just walk into the bar
Go and see the stars and do the Honky Dance
You can have another beer
but then don't try to steer after the Honky Dance.
Cause' every now and then everybody gets a little bit tipsy.
And driving is bad when you're out of your head
and the devil's truck comes faster than you think.
Lots of the bars that are there especially for truckers like me have Karaoke-machines.
They offer Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra and all that crap. But often you can bring your own Karaoke-CDs.
Sometimes when I'm in a real good mood, I go up and sing a few song for the people.
Usually I finish with this song.
And then I walk through the bar
I'm close to seeing stars doing the Honky Dance.
It's better than you think
if you have another drink and do the Honky Dance
Cos every now and then everybody gets a little bit horny
Hey Baby over there I got something we can share
Just come up here and help me do this dance
Do the Honky dance oh Baby
Do the Honky dance tonight
Cos life is real hard when you are a truck-drivin' man
But I'm as happy as can be when I'm here in the bar with you and we're doing my dance
